I'd love to see a study on how likely someone of a poor background vs middle class background is more likely to change their behaviors for #climatechange if they can. Most people without means just can't do more to green up their lives. But people from middle class backgrounds that I know are the least likely to make basic changes to their habits just because of convenience. It might just be my parochial experience but it does feel like people who grow up poor are more used to going without and budgeting while people raised middle class didn't have to go without nearly as much so any inconvenience/work around is too much.
More research needed, much larger sample size than I have. I do know that poor people give on average 6% of their income to charity, middle class 4%, the rich <1% and the mega rich 1%(to buy PR).

Prof Kevin Anderson has promoted research (not sure if it’s his work but certainly peer reviewed) showing that, while the Global North obsesses about coal use in poor countries, restricting GN use of oil & gas will have by far the bigger impact due to levels of overconsumption

Why should the poor have to eek out a small emisions reduction when rich assholes are flying in jets, taking cruises and live in giant houses ?
