Having one smallish #hybrid and one smallish #EV have advantages that make up for each other. At the moment for charging my leaf vs fueling my Prius costs around the same if on a public charging station. If I can charge at home which I will hopefully be able to do when I move that will drop to 2/3rds the cost.

Hybrid
Much larger range
Much larger fueling infrastructure
Less planning required/good for emergencies
Good for long trips

EV
Much cheaper repairs and maintenance(unless its a Tesla)
A protection from gas hikes
Encourage more green energy production as you are now acting as a grid storage that can take up excess energy produced.
Good for commutes and local travel.

Here in the Netherlands the balance has decidedly tipped into the favour of EVs. We switched to a long range and short range EV and even vacations across Europe are a breeze.

@Jaime Visser Yeah if that was the case we could just own one car and a bike. It would be amazing. It feels very hostile to people with EVs here in Philly

in the Netherlands we are at the point that fast chargers on the highway are almost as common as petrol stations. Our municipalities are also required to build public chargers for people who don't have a driveway, and are required to add more chargers to each location based on usage.
