YouTube has been pushing me ads for a small coffee maker named "Blackout Coffee". Doing a little research the CEO pitches it as, "small-batch coffee roasting company that actively supports conservative American values." Whatever the fuck that means. Thanks I'll fucking pass. #uspoli #coffee https://finance.yahoo.com/news/strong-brew-success-raising-more-124900747.html

Pretty much yeah, down into products that don't even have like accidentally relevant political necessities. Like perhaps a "left wing" coffee house would advocate things like sustainable farming, a worker cooperative company etc. It's not like "Coffee for Democrats". It's so weird. But sadly there seems to be a market for this sort of thing as a main marketing point.

@mitch

On the left, there's Too Strong Coffee, which is sustainable, etc. but also partners with progressive news organizations such as Cenk Uygur's TYT.

Ugh the phenomenon has metastasized...great. I very much appreciate the going after doing sustainability, fair work, etc. I don't even have a problem with if the owners/company happen to do contributions to left political organizations (or right wing ones, both depending on what they are giving to). But making it their raison d'etre is a total turn off even if I liked the groups they are giving to.

Ugh. I buy my coffee from Mystic Monk. Excellent coffee, small-batch roasted, costs no more than grocery store coffee, and the money supports the monks. They only use high quality fair trade Arabica and fair trade organic Arabic beans.

"Conservative American Values" : every time you buy our coffee slop we donate 2 dollars to a fund that airs jesus ads for the super bowl.

Actually the Republicans don’t like that group. They disagree with how much time they spent on the whole “love thy neighbor” stuff and they don’t hate LGBT people enough apparently. https://www.joemygod.com/2024/02/one-million-moms-vs-disturbing-super-bowl-jesus-ad/

I thought that didn’t sound great but I had no data to legitimize that belief. Thanks for clarifying that.
