It does a lot of sane and interesting things, It was glissed because it was made by a bunch of #flossbros (too much leftist), then everybody called the experts and they came out with ActivityPub, which is a a W3C project, that means also the #TechBros are indirectly involved.
Maybe it is time to come back and rediscover it... 🤔

I still find it the most usable and rational social media platform, focused on long post and neat threads organization.
Not sure what you consider unusable, I think the same of anything is twitter/mastodon alike.

It still starts this way... And I love it because it is content focused.
I started with it in 2016 and hasn't changed that much, so try it only if your experience was before...
