And a heart-felt "Fuck you" to everyone who told me in 2016 that I was overreacting. Yes, that's a meme. I don't care. I feel it in my bones. I cried the night they called that election for Trump. I cried myself to sleep.

"I told you so" is too gentle, too subtle.

A familiar feeling of dread. Like when I was driving back from a live shot at the State Capitol and heard the Supreme Court had ruled in favor of GWB.

It was! I was in shock it was live and I had to go to work, I was a professor and classes were not canceled at the university since most of the students were 18, 19, 20 and lived on campus....we adults needed to be there for the students. I was amazed I could even drive....

In the newsroom, we all went into overdrive. The editors I was supervising were at the top of their game.

But after about three days, tempers began to fray and people throughout the newsroom began calling in sick - we couldn't handle the implications of the attack, let alone the added stress.

I could smell it. My job at the time was a few miles away. There's more, but I think I'll mute this in the interest of not reliving the trauma.
