Bluesky was short term disastrous for the potential of Mastodon as a Twitter alternative but in the end it might have been necessary. This place wasn't ready, and journalists and left activists were much better able to form a functional ecosystem there. When we can share content from there back here it's gonna be so good.

I could see Bluesky becoming the blue check space of the fediverse. A stage where more prominent people can have their public conversations. That's an important function. But here is where us hoi polloi can talk with each other. Having both is where the magic happens.

@preppydude Yeah I've been on it a lot. Lots of good stuff there but less sense of community.

same user name? I was on there really early. The feed was in Farsi Chinese, and English. A bit of a ghost town for a black American and the masses weren’t interested 😳

@preppydude jbaer.bsky.social over there :) It's definitely come a long way - and there are more Black folks over there than here… of course that's not saying much...

@seachanger I'm not sure, I think they have to roll out some more functionality for their federation model before @snarfed can do his bridge.

@Jesse Baer 🔥 Friendica can mirror bluesky for you. I think you can do the same for mastodon with fed.brid.gy. I just have not as of yet had a reason to join bluesky.

@anubis2814 When you say "mirror" do you mean I could boost posts from there to a friendica account here, and they would be visible to that account's followers?
in reply to Jesse Baer 🔥

@Jesse Baer 🔥 it would work both ways. Anything you post there will post here voice versa, including responces
