Liberals who gush about the journalism at NPR or CSPAN need an intervention, stat. “They’re almost as good as the @nytimes,” they say.

“Yes, like heart disease is almost as good as pancreatic cancer,” I reply.

As if NYT is some gold standard on that front even. The signal to noise ratio has gone to shit there for some time and only getting worse. That's to say nothing for editorial decisions about how prominently and often to cover a story: see But Her Emails, etc.
