Don't let the "tax sharks" scare you away. This is a good progressive read. Here's more of the flavor to entice you:

"If conservatives think there's a natural order in which the few dominate the many, progressivism is a belief in pluralism and inclusion, the idea that disparate perspectives and experiences all have something to contribute to society."

Reading this piece explains for me one of the many motives behind the NeoCons thrust into municipal politics.

A progressive local politician can be a significant barrier to the Conservative sharks and an impediment to the totalitarian Conservative agenda.

@soc_i_ety I do think that "hierarchies are the natural and proper order" is a significant part of conservative thinking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agzNANfNlTs

@BoydStephenSmithJr @soc_i_ety
that conservatism is about maintaining hierarchies is a big part of George Lakoff's political theories, where he enumerates that, how it contrasts with liberalism, and the consequences of those in public political communication in his books "Don't Think of an Elephant" and "Moral Politics." Moral Politics I haven't gotten around to reading yet, but DTofE is quite an enjoyable read and meant for a mass audience.

It also explainsv how Modi and Netanyahu are following the conservative agenda for their prospective countries.

Robin's ideas remind me of Jonathon Haidt's moral foundations theories that the conservative mindset is authoritarian, Manichean-can't stand ambiguity, abhor uncertainty, very suspect of the new and different-tribal/group think, and highly sensitive to sanctity/purity. That's a bit oversimplified but he's done a lot of research and found a global fairly clear dichotomy wrt to liberal mindsets. That's a near-perfect recipe for delusional thinking and why they're far more religious.
