Might well be killing my mastodon account for good in the near future with #Firefish (formerly #calckey ) blowing them out of the water. Will always keep my #Friendica account because of diaspora, but with a few more changes Firefish will make Friendica obsolete.

Things Firefish needs to do to make Friendica obsolete

Change image size(maybe even adjustable)
sort bookmarks into categories
allow for background image (Never mind there is a wallpaper option)
Create media only feeds (available on the Milktea app for Firefish)
Create an archive option
Improve Calendar
Create a global directory
Connect to diaspora

Other than possibly improving security (unsure of the security comparisons) Firefish will make Friendica a relic as its already doing to mastodon.

@Damon Outlaw actually I lied, images aren't adjustable in size, they are just better displayed. I like seeing them look closer to pixelfed and see the whole image while scrolling and not have to zoom in if I don't want to. For bookmarks it's like Facebook. Create a folder that you can name in bookmarks so you can better organize them. Changing the comments or creating an option to have threading work more like FB and less like Twitter would be nice

DDGing for "firefish" finds... a lot of things that aren't social network software. Link?

. The rebrand is very recent, so we need time to climb up the search engine rankings, lol

@kainoa Ahh! I was wondering how I hadn't heard of it. (I am somewhat familiar with CalcKey,)

@kainoa
P.S. Your profile link on this page is a 404 -- but maybe that's a known issue.

@kainoa Oops, sorry! Forgot to paste... and the laptop I was typing on died abruptly...

@Lorraine Lee That is weird, I have no idea, Media only should still have text to go along with it but eliminate any text without media. It looks like the devs can't figure out what is up with your issue. That is so weird.

@Lorraine Lee Probably because they keep adding more and more features Friendica has avoided to keep resources use smaller.

@Lorraine Lee However I've been told that Calckey uses way less resources for what it gives than mastodon.

@Lorraine Lee Been poking around Calckey and its going to be just as modifiable as myspace was in the near future if they keep going the way they are. Something that people have been missing since Rupert Murdock bought it and destroyed it decades before Musk did that with Twitter.

@Lorraine Lee Still in love with Friendica but its slow moving in change, don't accept donations only time and PHP is notoriously hard to read. Firefish is typescript one of the easiest languages to read and javascript is the most known language on the planet. they can change things nearly on the fly compared to Friendica, but because of that the security on Firefish might not be as good. Friendica has the potential to be the absolute best of all of them but its a slow struggle.

Tek doesn't like this.
