Precisely why I constantly annoyed people by telling that even the "model bots" were a problem on Twitter. They constantly flipped from "look at me, I'm sexy" (or whatever) to ranting about politics.

Clearly fake accounts, easily and quickly morphed into political propaganda ... and there were already *millions* of those accts on that platform when I left Twitter. And, thousands were being created *daily* for years.

(FWIW: I spent 80-100 hrs/wk for years tracking such networks)

@palin The obvious scam is part of the point. It's like the Nigerian 409 scam: making it obviously stupid filters out the people who won't be fooled quickly, leaving only the dumbest of the dumb (their target demographic) on the hook.
