the wildest part about this cartoon is that the amount of marks shown on the right isn't even close to the amount of gun deaths *per week*, at least according the the most recent stats for 2021 in which 48,830 died in a year, which is 939 per week. So this shows just over half of the weekly total.

And yet even this is steeped in gun lobby propaganda. The 2nd Amendment isn't there to overthrow tyrants. It's there so we have a well-regulated militia for national defense. AKA the National Guard.

The idea that it's there so the people can revolt against government overreach is just nuts. The constitution doesn't legalize treason, and the first time the Militia Act was invoked was so President Washington could use the militias to put down the Whiskey Rebellion.
