I agree, although a bulky 8 inch Dob isn't really a one-size-fits-all solution either, especially when you live in a big city with no access to dark skies. They excel at a narrow set of tasks, but that doesn't keep people from using them for other stuff, or manufacturers advertising/glorifying other use cases in which they only perform below the level of established, specialized tools.
