The latest beta of Relatica mobile/desktop client for Friendica is now released: 0.4.0. The two biggest features are that it supports animated GIF attachments and now all platforms have video support thanks to a new Flutter library called "media_kit". That is along with a host of smaller changes mentioned in the CHANGELOG file. Right now due to some hiccups with XCode 14.3 the Mac version has to be directly downloaded and won't be through TestFlight. Since this version v0.4.0 i increasingly using it instead of the browser with Frio theme (on my Android-smartphone). What I particularly miss in everyday use is 1. a solution to jump to the top of the timeline and 2. the ability to copy a link or to open a link in an external browser.
Jumping to top of the timeline could be realized by a button next to the "+"-button (for new posts), like it is done in Frio-Theme, or by a button on top of screen next to the "My Network"-dropdown. This feature seems necessary if you only use the app just once or twice a day and then scroll down through all the posts that arrived in the past hours.
Possibliy an mistake ist the absence of the share-button below any comment.
Hi @Hank G ☑️ , just noticed, that there is a version 0.6.0 of your app #Relatica and the version 0.5.0 has been released already three weeks ago. Curious about two features I asked for, I'm happy to see, that you noticed my request and implemented both already in version 0.5.0.
Both - opening a link in the default browser and scrolling to top of timeline by tapping on the home button - makes this app more suitable for daily use.
So again thank you a lot for this great #Friendica -app. Is there a way to donate by direct Sepa-bank transfer?
You are welcome! As more people use it and the low hanging fruit is replaced with edge cases and more difficult things to implement I imagine I won't be able to be as responsive to people as time goes on. I'm not setup for or taking donations for my project. I'm not sure if/when I'd ever do that. If I did do something like that I'd probably focus it to be a more fediverse-wide campaign or at the very least a Friendica-wide campaign. I'm not sure if Friendica is setup for donations either but I'd say contributing to them if they are would be a great thing to do even if just a little bit.
