No but they were picked and confirmed by people who were. Still a form of representative democracy.

the "right" has been working towards this, organizing, propagandizing, lying, cheating, stealing for decades -- and the real power takeover has been in the states
this isn't about any one or several elections -- it's about organizing, getting out the truth, getting out the vote in all those little, generally ignored contests where the real power can be wielded
