@futurebird Sadly, I’m pretty sure many folks then and now felt / feel that was appropriate use of force. And that the right to protest is over-exercised by “some groups.”
I caught an interesting piece just a day or two ago I think by a historian on how suppressing student protests regularly backfires. If you haven’t seen that, I’ll find and share. Makes me think universities could plan ahead for protests and be more ready (as with many aspects of higher ed leadership.)
