I specifically call the cybertruck “ #NotATruck “ because it is a special kind of bullshit. The rest of them fit in the category “compensating”. 😂

@sollat 'compensating' is always the word that pops in my head too.

had to go with #wankpanzer for the power of the staccato dactyl

"incel" doesn't match the rhythmic patterns of "el camino" (to me)

would work better with something where the "el" was more firmly attached

"incelephantiasis"
"incellophane"
"inceligible bachelor"
"incelectoral college"

IncelCamino is nice

Incel Camino specifically for the Cybertruck, Wankpanzer for the whole category of vehicles which are gratuitously large, heavy, and impractical (modern trucks, SUVs, etc.) to which the Cybertruck belongs.

I like that taxonomy a lot. Wankpanzer rolls off the tongue, but I've seen it used for the whole category of silly oversized trucks, while Incel Camino doesn't flow as nicely but does mean specifically the wankpanzer from Tesla.

I would hate to see the US side of Mastodon adopt "wankpanzer" outside of its original UK context!

To wit: it originally referred to someone who bought a large and expensive German luxury car. These days it refers to any large SUV, particularly in London.

I like wank because anyone could be an incel due to circumstances outside their control. But being a wank is purely a choice.

I don’t like either name. 🤷‍♀️ It also doesn’t look that big in person. I know it’s similar in size to the F-150, but its design makes it look small. And it looks dull. I’ve seen 3 recently & they look like goth kids turned delorians into sheet metal coffins on wheels. 🤦‍♀️

What bugs me about "wankpanzer" is that sure, wanking is considered negative (I mean, masturbation is fun, but the implication is that you can't get laid), but... "panzer" was a pretty badass tank, right? Also just means "panther" in German, and panthers are cool.

I don't want to attach anything with even an iota of cool to these gross things (or more to the point, the people who drive them).

Incels are uncool, and so were El Caminos. Doubly uncool? That gets my vote!

in reply to Kagan MacTane (he/him)

@kagan And it is nothing against wanking, just against the wankers who drive them. Perhaps it ought to be WankerPanzer
in reply to Brian Hawthorne

@bhawthorne Yeah, I'm cool with calling those people wankers. I just don't want the panzer part, because I don't want the wankers going, "Yeah, I drive a tank!" and having that association with "tanks are cool!" I want every single part of the term for these asshole machines to be uncool.
in reply to Brian Hawthorne

@bhawthorne Hmmmm. 🤔 That makes a certain sense for the Tesla Cybertruck, but I thought we were looking for a general name for all kinds of humongomobiles, like the Ford F-150 (have I got that right?) and I think there's another new one by GMC that's just ungodly huge.
in reply to Kagan MacTane (he/him)

The English have a very good term for this: “Chelsea tractor.” Chelsea is a suburban development near Londinium, to my understanding.
in reply to Joshua A.C. Newman

@JoshuaACNewman yeah, "Cyprolapse" is good. The name has to evoke the idea that anyone who uses one is such a fanboy of Melon Husk that they happily bend over and let him fuck them with a truck that is shaped like a broken bottle (and handles like one too).

The ridiculously high grill+hood on these things does have one advantage: it makes it much easier to mount a thermal lance on your own hood and stab them fatally as you pass them. (You were issued one thermal lance with your non-wankpanzer vehicle for this purpose, right?)

I like "incel Camino" specifically for the cybertruck, though that besmirches the original Camino which lives fondly in my head because of one time when I was a kid, some dude was parked outside Cub Foods with an all white Camino with the bed full of speakers blasting Cypress Hill and it made my mom mad

I've never heard either of those.

They tend to get called #YankTanks here but obviously that's not a name that's going to work in the US.

I've heard wankmobile and monster (energy) truck too.

At this point, if someone used any sort of creative, disparaging name for a car that included a word for hugeness, I'd assume these days they meant the giant trucks.

“Incel Camino” is specific to the Cybertruck.

Y'ALL the #wankpanzer vs. #incelCamino poll is over and the wank was the winner. y'all wrote in so many alternatives, it's gonna be like a 3 part thread; so i'll post that tomorrow.

but the obvious consensus?

#wankpanzer should be the general term; whereas #incelCamino is specific to a type car —and many people agree that incel Camino should be applied to the #cybertruck.

so:

the Incel Camino, aka cybertruck, is a style of wankpanzer.

Y'ALL!

i (almost) did not forget to post all your suggestions on the #Wankpanzer vs #incelCamino poll.

so let's start with the collective noun for pointlessly huge cars. am dividing them into portmanteus, 2 & 3+ word descriptors.

first, the portmanteus for #wankpanzer:

Arserangers
blingmobile
brodozers
Chuds
douchemobiles
fuglybus
humongomobiles
murdertruck
putzpanzer
Småkuksbil (tiny cock car)
tossermobile
wanktank
wankietankies
wankmobiles
wichsenpanzer
yankpanzer
YankTanks

🧵

in reply to yes, it's me, liza 🇵🇷 🦛 🦦

next, the 2+ word descriptors for #wankpanzers:

Chelsea Tractor
compensation wagon
creep jeep
dab slab
dick brick
Divorcedes Menz
douche canoes
hyper diaper
loser cruiser
manchild mobile
panzer wankwagen
Pavement Princess
rhino horn
Tonker Toy

Bloody Big Compensator (BBC)
emotional support vehicle
Fragility Compensation Vehicles (FCV)
gender affirming caremobile
Ludicrously Oversized Vehicles (LOVs)
pensioner utility vehicle
sports futility vehicles

🧵

in reply to yes, it's me, liza 🇵🇷 🦛 🦦

and finally for wankpanzer:
the Pedestrian Crusher 3000
Tiny Duck Energy mobile (TDE)

since the consensus is that #incelCamino refers to #cybertruck, here's the list i culled from y'all

chumpchariot
clustertruck
cybercuck
cyberwheelbarrow
deLoserian
elonsel
fuckertruck
incelwagen
rustbucket
Dork Inchero
Rube Ranchero
rust trucket
Tesla Cyprolapse
Trumpy Dumpster
spacekarenmobile

can't put them up all on a multi-poll.

i like incelwagen for the truck & cybercuck for the driver

/🧵

in reply to Michael

@garrattguy i thought it was originally written as one word, not two. i usually camel case when appropriate.
in reply to yes, it's me, liza 🇵🇷 🦛 🦦

I first saw it as (non hashtag) wankpanzer and read it as two words, I think because “panzer” was a WWII German tank so not a completely inappropriate descriptive and in my view such a vehicle (the pickup) would only be driven by a “wanker”. 🤣
This entry was edited (2 weeks ago)
in reply to yes, it's me, liza 🇵🇷 🦛 🦦

I just want someone to make bumper stickers of both, but given all the cameras there's probably no good opportunities to apply them. Sure you could do it in winter in the north while well covered, but even the idiots who buy the monstrosity know better than to drive it on salted roads (or will rapidly learn)
Unknown parent

Kagan MacTane (he/him)

@oldladyplays Oh, good to know. Thanks for the German lesson.

Anyway, tanks are kind of cool. The wankers who drive those stupid trucks might hear it called that and go, "Yeah, I'm driving something that makes people think of a tank!" And I don't want that.

(So, "there's a panther in a tank" in German would be something vaguely like "bist ein Panther im ein Panzer"? N.B.: No, I have never studied German. Just have an ear for languages.)

I still like "Clustertruck" especially for when they are obvious pieces of junk like the cybertruck, or useless for any purpose for which one would actually need a huge vehicle (e.g. the Rams with a bed the size of a sedan's or a tow hitch that would break if towing anything)

Bonus clustertruck points for a load of fashy/trumpy bumper stickers (or worse, FLAGS), a gun rack, a reckless raging driver, being double or triple parked...
